“My person of the year award for 2008, and 2009 and 2010 goes to CHARLOTTE TROY. This is because she helped me develop my idea for a psychotherapy graphic novel into a publishable book which was then taken up by Macmillan. I met her by chance at a private view, I loved her energy straight away which was why I sent her my manuscript. She was vital to my project and even after I signed a contract with Macmillan, Charlotte’s company, CT Bureau, was kept on to design and edit the book as she has specialist knowledge of art books and comics. She has been the king pin between publisher, author (that’s me), designer, printer, publicist and distribution. I don’t think there is anything she doesn’t know about publishing and in my view is an expert at publishing art books. But brush these skills aside, they are not what is most important about Charlotte. Yes, she’s efficient – she gets things done and gets them done well, on time and on budget, but the main thing is that she is just lovely to have around, a lovely person to be with and to spend time with. We love her so much at our house that now my husband, Grayson Perry, is employing her work out all the logistics of his ten-day performance art piece (or maybe its a holiday) of taking his teddy bear, on a specially built motorbike around Germany. Of course we’re taking Charlotte too. My daughter, Flo, says she can’t think of anyone with better dress sense.”
